In The Gallery

12.49pm | 26th May 2021 | National Gallery, Singapore

Footsteps
Aircon vents
Antique tiles
Escalator hums, stops, then restarts.

- Silence -

Distant ringing
Children giggling
Muffled whispers
Door closing, reopening, then shuts.

- Silence -

As I pace
From one exhibit to the other
I seem to get distracted;
By sudden wafts of cold as I drift -
Through each room.

Albeit quiet,
I still can't help but notice
All these other sounds around me
Intermittently breaking -
The silent symphony.

I sit on the 1st floor near the Padang Atrium of The Gallery, with the sun shining through the roof; casting a short shadow over me as I write this:-

Where I sat as I wrote this blog entry | A picture of myself & my scribbles

I feel the tender heat of the sun, gentle against my skin. The sensation of it sparks a realization that had been slowly forming throughout this experience: I am currently living in this very present moment.

This realisation – gave me the feeling of accomplishment and peace.

Author’s Note: Steph’s refresh & reset entry 1/8

I invite you to walk in my shoes for today. Some of these pieces truly resonated with how I felt at this moment in my life and I am truly grateful to the artists, the geniuses behind these remarkable creations.

All art at this point in writing are exhibited at the National Gallery of Singapore (2021).
