“The Artist’s Way”

To live a creative life, we must lose our fear of being wrong

Joseph Chilton Pearce

– The Beginning –

I’ve always felt that the perfect book finds its reader, almost as if by accident.

Let me tell you how I ended up with this book in the palm of my hands: “The Artist’s Way” by Julia Cameron.

I wouldn’t say that I’ve had an amazing start to the year. In fact – my mind has been the busiest ever, and I’ve been doing my level best to extinguish these flames before it becomes an inferno.

Finding a moment of peace was challenging, but it helped me realize and appreciate the good days. However, that does not stop ‘solution me’ from seeking out alternatives to calm the mind.

After a few months of battling these shadows, I came to terms with myself and wrote a list…

  • Make more connections
  • Find your HAPPY
  • Surround yourself with SUNLIGHT
  • “FAMILY, FAMILY, FAMILY”
  • Stay TRUE to yourself
  • STOP worrying about what others’ may think, but how much you’ve GROWN

One conversation led to another, and before I knew it, a conversation with my sister, led me to the book. To the readers who are new to what this book is about, I am sharing a short summary below and a link to the book HERE.

The Artist’s Way, a book by Julia Cameron sheds light on discovering and unleashing your inner creative self through a 12-week guided program of “morning pages”, “artist dates”, activities and more.

Here is a brief 2-minute video illustrating how I felt before starting the course!

Lo and behold – the first introductory chapter captivated me. I was determined to set course and embark on this unknown 12-week journey, although the “Censor*” in my mind was already doubtful about its viability, considering my hectic work schedule.

Having said that, there’s no turning back now – and I am both excited and nervous for what is to come. Keep Going!

Author's Note: Do look forward to more weekly posts and VLOGs as I document my journey throughout this 12-week program!

*The “Censor” here refers to what the book calls the inner voice in our heads which denies or tells us “No”
